11/11/2023 0 Comments Google drive stream for businesses![]() ![]() You go to the registry to fix problems, tweak the interface and to overcome short sided software LIKE File Stream apparently. Nobody can tell me with a strait face that it makes sense to make a REGISTRY CHANGE to make a software option change, its ridiculous and shows very poor software development practices. The registry is not an acceptable place to change a NETWORK OPTION that belongs in the G Suite Admin Console under the File Stream options (which it is NOT) or in the client like all other GOOD file sync software does it. I love change, you can't be in the IT Industry if you don't like it, what I don't like is software companies removing NEEDED and USEFUL functionality from software and go backwards. I could just map a drive letter if I wanted to do that, but by FORCING that they have added something that is not needed or necessary and doesn't give me ANY advantage at all. I don't need a FILE SYNC software to FORCE me to use a Drive Letter when it is not necessary or needed. ![]() They just took a BIG STEP behind both One Drive and DropBox. ![]() Right now the way File Stream is it is most certainly in the They can KEEP IT column. I don't drink anyone's Cool-aide and if I am going to pay for something it is going to be useful or they can keep it, In a competitive market you move FORWARD not backward. I agree with your Rockn on the G Suite panel in general is pretty well done, that is why I am so extremely disappointed that GOOGLE could screw up something so brain dead simple as they did by taking NEEDED functionality OUT OF software that already had it and put out something they call new and improved when really its lame and feature Less. I personally do not see any reason to use drive sync or file stream, but G Suite is far easier to use and manage than that monstrosity MS has created. ![]()
